CBC News is seeking Hairdressers for occasional work to support its hosts contributors and guests in a deadline-driven environment. You are able to perform hairstyling within 10-20 minutes and touchups in a timely fashion working together with a Makeup Artist to get clients to the set on time. You are organized and detail-oriented with experience working in live broadcast. You maintain professionalism and discretion while conversing with colleagues. The ideal candidate has a proven ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Key Tasks:

• Performs hairstyling on all types of natural hair hair pieces and extensions

• Contributes ideas and makes recommendations to overcome problems or achieve desired results.

• Consults with Supervising Makeup Artist to determine best methods of production and materials to be used.

• Collaborates with the Host and Makeup Artist to ensure visual unity

• Selects tools and materials and ensures that they are available to meet program requirements.

• Work with Supervising Makeup Artist to research hair trends try new techniques and evaluate products.

• Ability to work variable shifts including early mornings (starting at 4am) and weekends.
  

As assigned or required may perform any or all of the following tasks:

• Make necessary arrangements for hairdressing

Education Required:

Requires good knowledge and understanding of television program production methods

including picture lighting and design craft functions as well as how these crafts interact

with the production clients. Must have a hairdressers license and at least two years of professional experience in a similar role
