About the Role

As our Corporate Sustainability Manager you will lead and coordinate sustainability activity across the organisation. You will provide expert guidance develop corporate policy and strategy and deliver initiatives that support the Councils environmental objectives.

In this role you will:

  • Build and lead the corporate sustainability function.
  • Develop and embed net-zero and wider sustainability policies.
  • Provide expertise on greenhouse gas emissions and reduction planning.
  • Lead projects and initiatives that support organisational and city-wide goals.
  • Oversee performance reporting including the annual greenhouse gas account.
  • Identify funding partnership and investment opportunities to support delivery.

What Youll Be Doing

  • Designing and delivering sustainability projects from concept to implementation.
  • Managing a small team and supporting professional development.
  • Developing a performance management framework for reporting and monitoring.
  • Ensuring compliance with the Councils Environment & Sustainability Assessment process.
  • Advising on emerging legislation sector innovation and best practice.
  • Engaging internal teams partners community groups and stakeholders to drive impact.

About You

You are an experienced sustainability professional with the capability to influence lead and deliver change at scale within a large organisation.

You will bring:

  • A relevant degree or extensive senior experience in environmental sustainability.
  • Experience developing policy/strategy and delivering complex sustainability programmes.
  • Strong analytical reporting and greenhouse gas accounting skills.
  • Ability to secure and manage external funding or partnerships.
  • Proven experience managing teams and coordinating work across large organisations.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence senior leaders and diverse stakeholders.
