Job Summary

The Head Coach & SDA Recruitment Liaison Womens Volleyball provides strategic leadership and operational management for the Universitys Womens Volleyball program and SDA recruitment initiatives. This position integrates the functions of Athletics and Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) with responsibility for developing and implementing policies strategies and procedures that advance institutional recruitment community engagement and athletic excellence.

Working under general direction from the Vice President for Strategic Enrollment Management and the Athletics Director the position exercises a high level of independent judgment and discretion in making operational and fiscal decisions affecting program direction resource allocation and SDA outreach priorities.

Estimated Time Allocation:

60% Strategic Planning Program Management and SDA Recruitment (Administrative)

40% Coaching and Athlete Development (Program Execution)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategic Program Administration (60%)

Develop and implement annual strategic plans for SDA athlete recruitment and program development aligning with University-wide enrollment and retention goals.

Design and oversee SDA-focused recruitment initiatives including tournaments showcases and academy partnerships and make independent decisions regarding travel budget utilization and outreach priorities.

Collaborate with senior leadership in Athletics and SEM to establish annual recruitment targets performance metrics and budget parameters; prepare detailed reports and recommendations for leadership review.

Exercise discretion in designing and approving marketing recruitment and community engagement strategies targeting SDA students nationally and internationally.

Develop and manage the Womens Volleyball programs annual operating budget authorizing expenditures negotiating vendor agreements and ensuring compliance with university fiscal policies.

Supervise train and evaluate a minimum of two direct reports (Assistant Coach and Program Coordinator/Student Employment Lead) delegating operational tasks and reviewing performance.

Represent the University and Athletics Department at professional conferences recruitment events and SDA community gatherings; independently negotiate event participation sponsorships and collaborations.

Coordinate communication between Athletics and SEM to align recruitment pipelines and data-driven outreach strategies.

Athletic Leadership and Coaching (40%)

Provide leadership and oversight of the Womens Volleyball program ensuring that coaching competition and player development reflect institutional values and academic integrity.

Develop and execute team training schedules performance strategies and competition plans with limited supervision.

Ensure compliance with NAIA conference and University regulations including academic eligibility reporting requirements and sportsmanship standards.

Mentor and evaluate student-athletes on athletic academic and personal development maintaining a holistic focus consistent with the Universitys mission.

Serve as a public representative of the Universitys athletic program fostering community goodwill through events clinics and outreach programs.

Decision-Making and Authority

Authorized to make independent decisions regarding program budgets event design staff assignments and travel priorities.

Exercises discretion in developing strategies for SDA outreach and recruitment initiatives with measurable institutional impact.

Recommends policy and procedural changes to enhance recruitment outcomes and athletic program effectiveness.

Required Education & Experience

Bachelors degree required; masters degree preferred.

Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in collegiate athletics recruitment management or related administration.

Demonstrated ability to supervise evaluate and motivate professional staff and students.

Proven leadership organizational and communication skills.

Strong computer data management and analytical skills.

Experience developing and managing budgets with authority to make independent fiscal and operational decisions.

Advanced knowledge of volleyball coaching techniques recruitment best practices and scholar-athlete development within higher education.

Established connections within the volleyball community and the SDA church and educational systems.

Ability to innovate and adapt to emerging technologies (e.g. video analysis data systems and digital communication tools).

Commitment to institutional service community engagement and mission-centered leadership.

Flexibility for occasional travel to recruitment areas and athletic events (domestic and international).

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises and evaluates at least two full-time employees including an Assistant Coach and a Program Coordinator. Also supervises student workers and other support staff.

Provides leadership delegation and performance feedback to ensure alignment with institutional goals and compliance with university policy.

Work Environment

Administrative work in both coaching and recruiting/enrollment is office-based (60%); direct coaching responsibilities take place primarily in the gymnasium and fitness center (40%).

Periodic travel required for athletic competitions recruitment events and conferences (domestic and international).

Work involves standard physical activity associated with office operations including extended periods of sitting computer use and attendance at meetings.

May occasionally involve walking or standing for athletic or recruitment events; minimal physical risk.

Requires the ability to operate a vehicle and maintain a valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL).

Salary:$70304 plus generous benefits starting 1/1/2026
