Job Summary:
The Field Property Claims Manager is a technical role responsible for the end-to-end handling of simple to complex and potentially high-value commercial property claims. This individual will conduct prompt on-site investigations evaluate the scope of damages analyze insurance coverage and negotiate fair and timely settlements. The ideal candidate is a subject matter expert in commercial agribusiness property construction damage assessment and policy interpretation committed to delivering an outstanding customer experience for our business clients.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Claim Investigation & Evaluation
  • Conduct thorough and timely on-site inspections of damaged commercial properties to determine the cause origin and extent of loss.
  • Interview policyholders claimants witnesses etc. to gather all necessary information.
  • Secure and document evidence clearly and concisely.
Coverage Analysis & Damage Assessment
  • Review applicable commercial property insurance policies to determine appropriate coverage.
  • Evaluate and quantify business interruption and extra expense exposures.
  • Establish and maintain accurate and timely loss reserves for the life of the claim.
Negotiation & Settlement
  • Clearly communicate coverage positions settlement offers and claim decisions to policyholders and their representatives (e.g. public adjusters agents attorneys).
  • Negotiate fair and equitable settlements in accordance with policy provisions and state regulations.
  • Identify and investigate potential subrogation or fraudulent activity.
Reporting & Documentation
  • Maintain highly detailed and accurate electronic claim files documenting all activities correspondence and decisions.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports for management and internal partners as required.
  • Effectively manage an assigned caseload to meet and exceed company cycle time and customer service standards.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Provide excellent customer service to all stakeholders.
  • Regular and sustained attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited university or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in property claims adjusting with a proven track record of handling commercial property losses.
  • Active and valid State Adjusters License in your home state and the ability to obtain reciprocal licenses in other states as required.
  • In-depth knowledge of property insurance policies forms and endorsements.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret complex policy language and apply it to claim scenarios.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid drivers license and a clean driving record.
  • High attention to detail strong organizational skills and a good work ethic.
  • Expert proficiency with claims estimating software (e.g. Xactimate Symbility) and claims management systems.
Education Licensing - Certifications - Experience:
  • Proven knowledge of the principles of exposure safety environment construction etc. as normally acquired through a bachelors degree (B.A.) from a fouryear college or university in science engineering insurance business or Agrirelated courses and/or two to four years of related business experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Extensive claims experience in successfully handling commercial agribusiness property claims along with a deep understanding of agricultural practices agribusiness operations and related risks is preferred.
  • Possess or obtain required state and local licenses or certifications for adjusting within the agreed timeframe.
  • Professional designations such as Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) or Associate in Claims (AIC) are preferred.
  • Experience preferred in managing large loss and/or complex commercial property claims.
  • Demonstrated experience in catastrophe (CAT) claims management preferred.
  • Attend training schools as required.

  • This is a field-based position requiring frequent travel (50%) within the assigned territory.
  • Some overnight travel will be required.
  • Safely operate a motor vehicle.
  • Work will be performed in a combination of a home office setting and at claim sites.
  • Must be physically able to conduct thorough property inspections which may include climbing ladders walking on roofs working at heights such as on catwalks and entering confined spaces.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and non-traditional environments.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours including evenings and weekends particularly during peak claim periods or catastrophic events.
