About the Role
As the schools Caretaker you will take responsibility for the day-to-day running safety and maintenance of the site. Duties will include:
Carrying out general repairs maintenance and minor DIY tasks across the school
Opening and securing the premises including daily lock/unlock routines
Conducting regular health & safety checks including fire alarms and emergency exits
Supervising contractors on site and ensuring compliance with safeguarding procedures
Supporting cleaning teams and maintaining high site standards
Setting up rooms for events assemblies and exams
Monitoring stock levels of essential materials and ordering supplies where necessary
Responding to site-related issues promptly and professionally
This is an active hands-on role that requires initiative good communication and the ability to prioritise tasks efficiently.
Experience and Qualifications
Previous experience in a caretaking maintenance or facilities role (school experience desirable but not essential)
Strong practical skills including basic plumbing carpentry decorating or general DIY
Knowledge of health & safety procedures and site compliance
Good organisational skills and ability to work independently
A positive can-do attitude and commitment to maintaining high standards
Must hold or be willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check
Salary
Paid according to experience and the local support staff pay scale.
