Job Summary
An ambitious primary school in Kingston is seeking an enthusiastic Year 5 Teacher to join their KS2 phase from January 2026. The successful Year 5 Teacher will plan and deliver a broad ambitious curriculum that secures strong progress in reading writing and mathematics. This Year 5 Teacher post offers the chance to lead curriculum projects contribute to whole-school initiatives and be part of a collaborative leadership culture in Kingston.

Year 5 Teacher to join a motivated and high-performing KS2 team
The appointed Year 5 Teacher will work closely with the phase leader and other Year 5 colleagues to shape medium-term planning and assessment ensuring pupils are well prepared for upper KS2. This Year 5 Teacher role includes responsibility for running booster groups designing rich topic work and maintaining excellent homeschool communications. Candidates will be inducted in the weeks leading to January 2026 so the Year 5 Teacher is fully prepared for the spring term beginning January 2026.
Responsibilities
- Plan and teach engaging Year 5 lessons that build knowledge and skills sequentially.
- Use assessment effectively to set targets and deliver timely support for pupils.
- Lead small-group interventions and monitor the impact of actions on progress.
- Work with colleagues to develop cross-curricular projects and enrichment activities.
- Maintain clear communication with parents and contribute to progress reporting.
Person specification
- Qualified teacher with recent successful experience in KS2 classrooms.
- Strong subject knowledge in English and mathematics with evidence of impact in Year 5.
- Excellent classroom management organisational skills and a reflective approach to practice.
- Energetic collaborative and committed to the schools vision in Kingston.
- Available to start January 2026 and able to work in Kingston.
