The Emergency Communications Officer will work in a high-stress fast paced environment answering 911 emergency calls non-emergency call and handling in person requests for service. Communications Officers will receive calls for service and dispatch information simultaneously to emergency first responders.
Must be 18 years of age or older and possess a high school diploma or GED. Must be able to pass a through background investigation which includes but is not limited to driving and criminal history records check credit history check and inquiry of character and reputation. Knowledge of and capability to use required equipment including but not limited to headsets for communication via phone and radio use of multiple computers and screens. Clear speaking voice. Typing speed of 20 words per minute minimum. Ability to read and interpret maps and mapping systems. Must be able to complete required training within selected time.
