The WSIB operates in a hybrid work environment and this position should anticipate 60% of their time in the office.

The WSIB is seeking a qualified candidate to join our Operations team as an Assistant Budget Officer. The Assistant Budget Officer will help provide comprehensive and strategic management of WSIBs budget and budget forecasting process fiscal impact analysis lease and facilities planning and management of government relationships related to budget and facilities operations for the agency. This position reports to the Budget Officer and will assist in providing expert strategic budget financial and lease and facilities planning guidance to the Board Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chief Operating Officer (COO).


The Assistant Budget Officer supports the agencys mission to invest the funds entrusted to us with integrity care and skill to maximize return at a prudent level of risk through effective budget and facilities management that ensures the prudent use of state resources by the WSIB.

Duties

IF SELECTED FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY YOU WILL ASSIST THE BUDGET OFFICER IN:

  • Directing development and administration of the WSIBs biennial budget allotments and annual non-appropriated budget.
  • Conducting detailed and complex budget preparation analysis and administration of agency budget activities.
  • Presenting budget-related updates analysis and status reports to Board members and the CEO.
  • Developing the WSIBs plans for office space leases and facilities planning to accommodate staff and the workplace in alignment with budget plans and growth needs.
  • Ensuring compliance with agency statewide and federal budget policies and regulations.
  • Building and maintain strong working relationships with Office of Financial Management Office of the State Treasurer and other state agencies vital to the WSIBs operational and financial performance.

Qualifications

COMPETITIVE APPLICANTS WILL HAVE:

  • Bachelors degree in accounting finance or a related field and specific experience with public administration.
  • Demonstrated professional-level experience involving complex public sector budget development and management financial analysis and public policy.

  • Ability to implement develop innovative budget solutions quality principles and continuous process improvements.
  • Sound knowledge of WACs RCWs federal laws financial policies regulations and procedures.
  • Mastery of space planning and facilities management.
  • Sound Knowledge of Certificate of Participation (COPS) financing procedures.
  • Ability to present complex budget policy and accounting information to a wide range of audiences; effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to negotiate and resolve conflicts.
  • Ability to analyze complex financial data and determine its significance.
