Engineering Technician Sub-Journey 3 (PCN 251803)

The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Northern Region Highways and Aviation is looking for an Engineering Technician Sub Journey 3 in NOME to help us Keep Alaska Moving!

• Works under the direction of a Project Engineer as a lab technician or inspector supporting all phases of civil construction projects such as roads bridges airports and utilities.
• Monitors construction activities to ensure compliance with project plans specifications and safety standards documenting contractor methods quantities and productivity.
• Performs field and lab testing of construction materials (e.g. asphalt concrete soil) collects and records data and assists with surveys computations and project documentation.
• Supports project administration by preparing pay estimates maintaining inspection diaries and compiling materials records for project closeout and QA review.
• May be assigned to other DOT sections in the winter (e.g. Materials Bridge Design ROW Environmental) to provide technical support as needed.
