Water Microbiology Laboratory Technician

37.5 Hours per week.  Tuesday - Saturday. 12:00 - 20:00.

Purpose of the post: 

To complete to the required quality standards the preparation of samples for a given method. To assist in the efficient day-to-day operation of the laboratory. To share the vision of providing the best possible quality to ensure each sample is processed with precision and accuracy.

• Preparation and analysis of water samples utilising good laboratory practice.
• Preparing and dispensing consumables
• Undergo training and follow laboratory SOPs and Safe Systems of Work
• Ensure samples received are handled in accordance with documented procedures including attention to temperature control storage and maintenance of sample integrity.
• Maintenance of accurate and systematic records as detailed in the quality procedures.
• Perform calibrations daily checks and other quality related tasks as required.
• Work with the team to drive the laboratory forward through continuous improvement.
• Report any anomalies or concerns to direct report.
• Comply with Health and Safety procedures keeping the working environment clean and tidy
• Maintenance of laboratory fittings and equipment as directed.
• Ensure personal protective equipment is worn in accordance with the Health & Safety policy. 
• Provide a high level of internal and external customer care.

Qualifications :

• Maths English Science at GCSE grade C or above or equivalent
• Experience in a fast paced working environment
• Awareness of good laboratory practices
• Enthusiasm energy and a driven outlook
