Role description:

Arcadis is seeking an experienced Digital Transportation ATIS (Advanced Traffic Information Systems) Operations Manager to lead the modernization integration and operation of digital transportation management systems and this role you will design and implement strategies to optimize and automate traffic operations asset management and intelligent mobility across urban and regional transportation networks.

Leveraging expertise in transportation operations the ATIS Operations Manager will support the deployment and ongoing improvement of digital solutions supporting traffic network operations intelligent transportation systems (ITS) and multi-modal mobility. You will collaborate with state provincial municipal regional and transit stakeholders to integrate asset management data analytics and operational systems for enhanced safety efficiency and sustainability. The Operations Manager will proactively identify risks develop mitigation strategies and support commissioning and validation activities.

As the primary contact managing key client deliveries and relationships you will work in close partnership with the ATIS leadership team to ensure client needs are met project outcomes are achieved and long-term relationships are maintained.

Responsibilities include managing cross-functional teams coordinating with vendors and contractors and ensuring compliance with industry standards regulations and best practices.

Role accountabilities:

  • Serve as the primary contact managing key client deliveries and relationships working in partnership with the ATIS leadership team to ensure client expectations are consistently met and long-term partnerships are fostered.
  • Support the modernization and integration of Advanced Traffic Information Systems (ATIS) including traffic signal management ITS and multi-modal transit platforms.
  • Direct systems engineering processes: requirements management interface management validation and verification configuration management and progressive assurance.
  • Collaborate with municipal regional and transit authorities to optimize the use of digital technologies and data-driven decision making in traffic management and public safety.
  • Manage cross-functional teams involved in project delivery including procurement installation integration testing commissioning and ongoing operations.
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement strategies including process enhancements and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to project teams supporting professional development and best practice adoption.
  • Proactively identify operational risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure safe reliable and sustainable system performance.
  • Monitor project progress resource allocation and budget adherence delivering quality outcomes for clients.
  • Advise clients on digital transformation asset management and intelligent mobility solutions contributing to proposals and integration effort estimates.
  • Conduct QA/QC reviews for design and operational compliance and communicate non-conformances and mitigation options.
  • Engage in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and promote knowledge sharing across teams.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering Computer Science or a related field.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience leading digital operations systems integration and asset management teams in transportation municipal infrastructure airports ports or rail sectors.
  • Proven expertise in ATIS ITS and enterprise asset management.
  • Professional Engineering registration (e.g. .) or eligibility for registration.
  • Experience with standards such as AREMA ISO CENELEC MIL-STD and IEEE.
  • Knowledge of P3 and other contractual models for transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Excellent client support and engagement skills with a record of successful stakeholder collaboration.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills; experienced in building high-performing diverse teams.
  • Proven ability to manage the design implementation and optimization of information systems and workflow processes including compliance with ISO19650 and similar standards.
  • Results-oriented fast learner and able to thrive in dynamic fast-paced project environments with keen attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated innovation in developing and deploying digital solutions for transportation and municipal operations.

The salary range for this position is $114590 - $212810 CAD. The base salary represents Arcadis hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors such as location skills experience and qualification for the role.
