This is a paid on-the-job internship designed for motivated individuals who want to grow into a Non-Invasive Cardiology Technologist role. No prior experience is required and all coursework is provided at no cost.
Shift Details - Please Read Carefully
Schedule: Third Shift 6:00 PM - 6:30 AM
Status: Full-Time (36 hours/week)
Pattern: Three 12-hour shifts/week
Days: Variable including weekends and holidays
Important: You must have full flexibility each week. Schedules are assigned generally a month in advance but we cannot accommodate recurring conflicts (classes another job or ongoing personal obligations). On-call shifts will be required once you transition to the NICard Tech role.
Start as an EKG Technician While You Train
Clinical Responsibilities:
Perform inpatient and outpatient EKGs (attaching electrodes operating EKG machines)
Apply troubleshoot and educate patients on Holter monitors and other cardiac devices
Work in clinical settings that may include exposure to body fluids open wounds or patients in acute distress
Learning & Career Advancement:
Begin learning telemetry interpretation and cardiac rhythm recognition
Complete structured educational materials and self-study supported by mentorship
Balance clinical duties with study time; progress is measured through knowledge-based tests
Advance to the Non-Invasive Cardiology Technologist role:
Primarily technical detail-oriented computer-based work
Observe cardiac rhythms document changes and escalate concerns
Face-to-face patient interaction 10-20% of the time (performing EKGs Holter/event monitors patient education)

Duties:
In this role youll gain hands-on experience performing adult and pediatric EKGs applying Holter monitors and cardiac event recorders. Youll interact directly with patients nurses staff and physicians while transcribing test results into our Electronic Health Record system. This role involves self-study with provided educational materials and youll complete the internship by passing a series of tests culminating in the Non-Invasive Cardiology entrance exam. On shift youll be expected to study between performing EKGs. All coursework is provided at no cost.
Required Qualifications:
High school education or equivalent required.
Ability to work on call required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program (effective for new hires starting January 1 2023 or later)
Completion of internal training program within 6 months of hire required.
Be prepared to test into and qualify for a Non-Invasive Cardiac Tech Role within 6 months of hire required.
Preferred/Desired Qualifications:
Two years experience in EKG preferred.
Medical experience preferred
College courses in physiology anatomy and/or related subjects preferred.
Associate of Science degree preferred.
Graduate of an accredited school of allied health/technology preferred.
