Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Provide staff support for the College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources (CTAHR) Fiscal Office.
  2. Review approve and post fiscal transactions (including accounts receivable and payables and receivables) as assigned and addressing issues or discrepancies with requisitioners or appropriate system offices.
  3. Track approved expenditures in Budget Projection Sheets reconcile accounts regularly and monitor account balances informing the Fiscal Manager assigned Fiscal Specialist and/or Principal Investigator of potential issues (i.e. projected deficits unallowable expenditures etc.).
  4. Provide staff support in procurement including review and approval of requisitions purchase orders inter-departmental orders travel documents (requests and completion reports) and p-card transactions in accordance with Federal State and UH policies and procedures.
  5. Draft Standard Operating Procedures and training materials for faculty and staff on fiscal topics.
  6. Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

  1. Possession of a baccalaureate degree.
  2. At least 1 year of professional experience with responsibilities for business administration and/or accounting.
  3. Functional knowledge of principles practices and techniques in accounting demonstrated by knowledge understanding and ability to apply concepts.
  4. Functional knowledge and understanding of principles theories federal and state laws rules regulations and systems associated with office management and/or accounting.
  5. Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation write reports and procedures and communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
  6. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations groups team members and individuals.
  7. Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and use Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word software.


Desirable Qualifications

  1. Some experience working in a University fiscal environment.
  2. Familiarity with the University of Hawaiis policies and procedures.
