REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION LEVEL: | Education Specialist degree in School Psychology; South Dakota Certification or licensure; South Dakota Teacher Certificate |
EXPERIENCE DESIRED: | Successful internship in school psychology. Interns welcome to apply. Candidates with BCBA credentials are encouraged to apply. |
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: | Constant hearing hand-eye and mind-eye coordination; frequent repetitive motions with wrists hands and fingers scheduling sitting speaking walking talking and writing are required. The ability to drive a car is required. |
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: | Excellent oral and written communication skills. Skills in human relations leadership and conflict management. Competence in completing assessments developing interventions and consulting with others.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES
- Conducts individual psychometric assessments and interpretation of evaluation results to design individualized student plans.
- Assist teams in navigating special education processes and procedures.
- Participates in building problem-solving team meetings and supports a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) model for delivering academic and behavioral interventions.
- Monitor student progress. Collect and interpret student and classroom data.
- Assess diverse learning needs and provide culturally responsive services to students.
- Utilizes evaluation and intervention techniques consistent with current professional standards.
- Builds interpersonal relationships and establishes positive rapport with students colleagues administrators and parents.
- Establishes student success as a primary goal and provides opportunities for students to experience success. Contributes to a learning climate that promotes the orderly behavior of students while maintaining the dignity and positive self-concept of each student.
- Monitor and effectively communicate with parents about student progress. Consults with teachers parents and school personnel to enhance school performance.
- Plan appropriate programs and interventions for students with learning behavior and social needs. Works directly with students or families to help solve problems related to learning and mental health.
- Seeks out and participates in professional growth experiences. Uses a growth mindset and displays a desire for continuous improvement.
- Provides counseling social skills training behavior management and other interventions.
- Connects families with community service providers when necessary.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of academic programs behavior management procedures and other services provided in the school setting.
- Conducts research to generate new knowledge to improve learning and behavior.
- Participates in school and District committees and abides by Board policies rules and special education guidelines.
- Maintain the confidentiality of students and their families.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors.

HOURS & FTE
Monday through Friday 7:30 am to 4:00 pm with a 30-minute unpaid break
1.0 FTE 40hours per week 9 months
