Job Description

The Department of Economics at the University of Nevada Reno seeks to hire a non-tenure-track faculty member at the Lecturer or Teaching Assistant Professor level to preferably begin Spring semester 2026. This is a regular full-time twelve-month faculty position which is renewable contingent upon funding and good performance.

The successful applicant will teach the introductory course in economics (ECON 100) and other lower-division courses in person. The standard load for a lecturer is four course sections per semester but this teaching load will be substantially reduced because the applicant will also be responsible for the coordination of dual credit economics courses taught in high schools around the state. This will require curriculum design weekly consultations with high school teachers and travel to provide site visits that help ensure the quality of courses taught.

The Economics Department offers BS BA MS and Ph.D. degrees. Department faculty are actively engaged in research and teaching and regularly publish in leading general and field journals.

Required Qualifications

  • Lecturer II - Masters degree in Economics or related field and exceptional teaching experience

  • Teaching Assistant Professor - PhD in Economics or related field and exceptional teaching experience

  • Documented history of successful teaching at the undergraduate level

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in Economics

  • Although scholarly research is not expected candidates will be expected to maintain AACSB qualifications as either a Scholarly Practitioner or an Instructional Practitioner

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Proficiency in oral and written English

Compensation Grade

Lecturer II 12-month non-tenure track

Teaching Assistant Professor 12-month non-tenure track
