  • POSITION TITLE:
    Odessa R-VII School District - Maintenance Director

    EMPLOYMENT DATE:
    Immediate Opening for the 2025-2026 School Year

    LOCATION:
    Odessa R-VII School District 701 S. Third Street Odessa MO 64076

    EMPLOYMENT:
    Full-time 12 month position. Pursuant to classified salary schedule and benefits established by the Board of Education. FLSA - Exempt.

    JOB GOAL:
    Maintain the physical school campuses and grounds in a condition of operating excellence so full educational use is made at all times. Ensure facilities are safe and secure for all users.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    High school diploma or GED with experience preferred in construction or building maintenance. Supervisory experience desired with ability to direct and coordinate. Have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules training manuals and instructions. Ability to follow a work schedule with flexibility to changing daily requirements.

    ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
    • Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
    • Supervisory responsibility over building custodial staff and district maintenance personnel and their projects.
    • Provide training to maintenance personnel.
    • Develop priority lists for maintenance of buildings and prepare cost estimates.
    • Conduct evaluations of maintenance/custodial staff.
    • Maintain custodial/maintenance supplies and equipment. Communicate recommendations for purchases as needed.
    • Maintain accurate inventory records of supplies tools and equipment.
    • Process repair and maintenance requests determine requests to be completed in-house and which require outside contractors advise superintendent accordingly. Responsible for timely completion of maintenance requests.
    • Assume primary responsibility for the safe condition of flooring doors and frames windows and frames restroom partitions wall surfaces ceilings stairs hardware and similar structural elements in district owned facilities.
    • Conduct routine and periodic inspections of facilities and grounds to maintain maximum operational use of all school campuses.
    • Supervise grounds-keeping activities.
    • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished written oral diagram or schedule format.
    • Ability to perform basic math calculations and apply concepts such as fractions percentages ratios and proportions to practical situations.
    • Prepare written reports as needed.
    • Run electrical (wiring conduit breakers) and other electrical projects and repairs.
    • Plumbing.
    • HVAC repairs and preventative maintenance.
    • Minor roof repairs.
    • Schedule inspections (boiler sprinklers elevator fire extinguisher etc.).
    ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
    • Adhere to district rules regulations and policies.
    • Adhere to good safety the proper use and care of hand tools and equipment.
    • Demonstrate professionalism and appropriate judgment in behavior speech and dress for the work setting.
    • Attend meetingsas needed.
    • Perform other duties as required or assigned.
    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
    • Regularly walking hearing and to communicate in noisy environments ie: construction sites; have close moderate and distance vision ability.
    • Must be able to lift turn bend twist and carry a minimum of 60 lbs. repeatedly; work overhead as well as on a employee will frequently lift or move up to 90 lbs.
    • The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp and use tools and climb ladders or other equipment.
    CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT:
    • Employee will be required to regularly work indoors and outdoors which may involve inclement weather (rain snow and temperatures below freezing or in excess of 100).
    • Employee will work near or with moving mechanical equipment.
    • Employee may work with toxic or caustic chemicals.
    • Noise levels could be occasionally loud.
