Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly experienced Xero Bookkeeper to support our finance and operations team. This role is ideal for someone who knows Xero inside and out and has a strong understanding of Australian tax regulations particularly GST.
You will be responsible for handling day-to-day bookkeeping maintaining accurate financial records preparing reports and ensuring our accounting processes are efficient and compliant. The role also involves helping us optimize our use of the Xero ecosystem including automation and job/project tracking.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform weekly and monthly bank reconciliations
- Reconcile monthly debtors and creditors
- Generate accurate cashflow reports (weekly) and management reports (monthly)
- Support BAS preparation and end-of-year readiness
- Implement and maintain job/project tracking within Xero
- Set up automated invoice reminders and system rules
- Assist in optimizing the use of Xero features (e.g. quotes invoicing project management)
- Ensure compliance with the Australian GST system and other relevant regulations
- Work closely with the team to improve processes and reporting accuracy
Requirements
- Xero Certified with demonstrated advanced knowledge of the platform
- Minimum of 2 years experience working in an Australian business environment
- Strong knowledge of Australian tax laws especially GST
- Proven experience in bookkeeping financial reporting and bank reconciliations
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and proactively
- Proficiency in using the full Xero ecosystem including integrations and reporting tools
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with BAS lodgements
- Previous exposure to automating financial workflows within Xero
- Background in working with SMEs or startups
