Through its health division our client seeks to transform healthcare delivery in the Horn of Africa by expanding access to high-quality affordable diagnostic and medical services. This state-of-the-art diagnostic hub will be based in Addis Ababa and will be equipped with advanced technology and led by skilled medical professionals. The organization will extend world-class healthcare to remote and underserved communities across Ethiopia and the wider region.


ROLE PURPOSE

The General Manager will be responsible for leading and operational development ensuring that the organization establishes itself as a leading provider of diagnostic and health services. This role requires a leader who can translate their mission into measurable results through sound strategy disciplined operations and sustainable financial management.

The General Manager will oversee all aspects of business performance including operations finance human capital business development and stakeholder engagement. The position calls for a leader with deep healthcare knowledge commercial acumen and the ability to build and scale a greenfield venture into a nationally recognized healthcare brand.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic and Operational Leadership

Lead the strategic planning and execution of Ethiopias operations ensuring the establishment and growth of the diagnostic hub in Addis Ababa.

Develop and implement a five-year business plan aligned with their vision of sustainable high-impact healthcare delivery.

Translate strategic objectives into operational outcomes with measurable performance targets.

Integrate technology and data-driven approaches into healthcare delivery to improve accuracy efficiency and patient experience.

Develop and oversee policies and procedures that promote excellence in clinical standards patient care and corporate governance.

Ensure that operations achieve financial sustainability while maintaining quality and accessibility of care.

Financial Management and Performance Oversight

Oversee financial planning budgeting and cost management to achieve profitability within set timelines.

Implement strong internal controls and compliance mechanisms aligned with both local regulatory requirements and Their governance framework.

Monitor key performance indicators and ensure financial discipline cost efficiency and accountability across all departments.

Identify opportunities to diversify revenue streams through partnerships service innovations and new product lines.

Prepare regular financial and operational reports for the Their executive leadership.

Human Capital Development

Build and lead a capable multidisciplinary team creating an environment that promotes collaboration accountability and professional growth.

Oversee recruitment onboarding and capacity-building programs to attract and retain top talent.

Develop a strong performance management culture with clear expectations and results-oriented targets.

Promote learning and innovation across teams to maintain high standards of professionalism and service delivery.

Model ethical leadership and organizational values that align with their mission and culture.

Stakeholder and External Relations

Represent with key government institutions health regulators insurance providers and private sector partners.

Cultivate strong relationships with local and international stakeholders to enhance partnerships and advocacy.

Engage with communities and partners to promote health awareness preventive care and accessible healthcare solutions.

Act as the primary spokesperson and representative for them in national and regional forums.

Business Development and Market Growth

Drive growth through business development initiatives that expand market share and service reach.

Establish partnerships with insurance companies corporates and medical institutions to create sustainable referral and client networks.

Oversee marketing and brand development strategies that position them as a trusted and innovative healthcare provider.

Lead feasibility studies and oversee the implementation of new diagnostic centres under the hub and spoke model.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Bachelors degree in Medicine Public Health Business Administration Finance or a related field.

A postgraduate qualification in healthcare management or business leadership is highly desirable.

15 20 years of progressive experience in the healthcare sector with at least ten years in a senior management role.

Strong experience managing diagnostic hospital or health-service operations with full profit and loss responsibility.

In-depth understanding of healthcare systems regulatory frameworks and medical service delivery models in emerging markets.

Prior experience in health insurance or healthcare financing will be an advantage.

Demonstrated success in launching or scaling operations within complex or fast-evolving environments.

Proven ability to manage teams budgets and partnerships at senior level.

Excellent communication negotiation and relationship management skills
