JOB SUMMARY: The Health Science Librarian provides access professional assistance text and/or online literature searching expertise to furnish state-of-the-art information for education patient care management decision making and research activities to professional students and the entire LECOM Institution. Hours are Monday Friday 8 AM 4:30 PM. Occasional weekend coverage required.
CHARACTERISTIC JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Act as departmental representative with faculty staff and visitors in a professional and friendly manner at all times;
- Use professional judgment to search and provide information in many forms: print electronic and multimedia;
- Enable users to access all forms of information contained within the LECOM Learning Resource Center through web-based electronic resources personal reference and referral work;
- Provides training for students faculty and staff on an as-needed basis;
- Assists with publication audits and other related assessment activities;
- Provides back-up as needed at various Institutional locations;
- Assists patrons while working the circulation desk;
- Researches and evaluate potential LRC resources;
- Contribute directly to the Mission of LECOM embodying the essence of Osteopathic Principles and Practices by assisting with Institutional fundraising and participating in the LECOM Scholarship Auction;
- Participate in scholarly activity so to enrich and broaden the student learning experience;
- Commit to being a representative of LECOM by being actively involved in the community including but not limited to serving on Boards participating in community fundraisers and overall outreach; and
- Other duties as required / needed to maintain an efficient and effective Department.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and experience equivalent to: Postgraduate Degree from an ALA-accredited library/information program required. M.L.S. M.S.L.S. or M.I.L.S. Successful experience in a professional capacity in a health science environment preferred.
