JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:The Financial Coordinator coordinates all daily financial activities for the Department of Preventive Medicine Radiation Oncology and Physician Assistant Studies that follow the institutional policies and procedures. This position works extensively with faculty and staff to perform financial duties including reconciliation payroll budget and post-award administration.



Responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assists with the review of restricted account expenses for timely reconciliations.
  2. Reviews state and gift ledgers; identifies financial discrepancies and makes corrections.
  3. Reviews and approves invoice payments in the financial system.
  4. Prepares and submits transfer vouchers and cost transfers in DASH/Oracle.
  5. Initiates appropriate contract documents (payable or receivable) for business vendors.
  6. Reviews and prepares budgets to actuals for discretionary and sponsored projects.
  7. Processes requisitions and NCJs if applicable for special purchases that contain restrictive terms and conditions; assists PIs with procuring sources.
  8. Monitors payments for contracts and maintains audit trails.
  9. Serve as backup for Accounting Assistants and Administrative Coordinator.
  10. Monitors and manages monthly grant expenditures to ensure compliance with appropriate guidelines auditing and regulations.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:High School Diploma or GED. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

EXPERIENCE:Five (5) years of related experience; OR Associates Degree and three (3) years of related experience; ORBachelors Degree and one (1) year of related experience.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Proficiency in Excel and Word.
  • Ability to read and proof documents for accuracy.
  • Ability to pay attention to detail and complete work accurately.
  • Superior knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping.
  • Ability to multi-task and complete assignments within identified deadlines.
  • Good interpersonal and writing skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with customers.

WORK SCHEDULE: This position may occasionally be required to work weekends and overnight travel may be required.
