About the Role
Reporting to the Security Manager the Security Supervisor ensures the safety of staff students and the public that access the Mount Royal Campus as well as the protection of all buildings grounds and assets. The key focus of the Security Supervisor is to provide supervision and direction to a team of Security Representatives during assigned shifts. Duties include training assignment of work quality control and performance management. The supervisor will also be responsible for coordinating the Security team response to critical incidents and accidents on the University campus and determining the response and resources required. Furthermore the Security Supervisor will be the Incident Commander for serious situations until relieved by the Director of the Emergency Operations Centre.
The Supervisor is expected to perform all functions included in the Security Representative functions.
The position works an averaging full-time work schedule of 37.5 hours per week. This will include days nights and weekend shifts of eight ten and twelve hours on a rotational basis.
Responsibilities
- Supervision of Security Representatives including determining and directing the correct course of action assigning and posting task rotations organize and delegate duties act as a resource monitor radio calls and provide direction and train new employees
- Ensures that all policies and procedures relating to the job function and role of the Security Department are properly carried out in a manner that makes the campus as safe and secure as possible
- Makes decisions regarding the assistance of outside agencies e.g. the City of Calgary Emergency Services such as Police Fire and EMS
- Understands the operation of the CCTV Fire Alarm System and Intrusion Alarm System
- Provides briefings on incidents as well as special event requiring special attention
- Initiates investigations and ensure the quality of Incident Report Writing
- Monitors buildings and facilities to ensure a safe environment
- Perform liaison position assignments
Qualifications
- Minimum one year post-secondary certificate/program or equivalent
- Minimum 18 - 24 months of related experience
- Basic understanding of the Canadian legal system is required
- Security License through the Government of Alberta is required
- Demonstrated supervisory skills
- Valid First Aid CPR Certificate and AED Certificate
- Ability to remain calm under pressure
- Strong independent judgement and problem solving skills
- Demonstrated strong leadership communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated strong customer service skills
Salary: $64252.50 - $81295.50 per annum
