Job Description
We are seeking a motivated Health & Safety Coordinator to join our Wairoa site in the sunny Hawkes Bay. Reporting to the Health and Safety Officer this role provides essential support in implementing AFFCOs Health and Safety Management System and ensuring our people remain healthy and safe at work.
This is a hands-on role where youll assist with incident response audits and proactive safety programmes while building strong relationships across the site.
Key responsibilities include:
- Support the Health & Safety Officer in implementing AFFCO H&S Plans and programmes.
- Assist with incident reporting investigation and follow-up actions.
- Help coordinate emergency preparedness and response activities.
- Contribute to hazard identification risk assessments and monitoring of critical controls.
- Assist with scheduling and conducting site audits inspections and safety observations.
- Promote employee engagement in health and safety initiatives applying SafePlus cultural maturity principles.
- Provide day-to-day guidance and support to staff on H&S matters.
- Champion continuous improvement and contribute to building a strong safety culture.
The ideal candidate will have the following experience qualifications and skills:
- Experience working in a high-risk environment (manufacturing processing or similar).
- A qualification in occupational health and safety or relevant experience.
- Knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015.
- Practical experience in hazard management incident reporting audits and safety procedures.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks.
- A proactive professional attitude and willingness to learn and grow.
