What Youll Be Doing:

  • Must be skillful in the operation of machines and hand tools necessary to perform removals in an efficient and economical manner.
  • Shall be able to use all hand tools and measuring instruments such as micrometers calipers gauges etc.
  • Must have a good knowledge of blueprints and manufacturers specifications to be able to disassemble and repair tools and equipment.
  • Shall be able to instruct Machinist/Mechanic Helper when assigned.
  • Must qualify to wear a respirator.
  • May be to travel up to 25% to conduct company business.
  • Must know all Standard Operating Procedures pertaining to environmental protection.
  • Assist in the receipt moor and departure of vessels.
  • Adhere to all corporate core values policies and procedures in the execution of all responsibilities.
  • Must be able to work effectively with co-workers in a professional manner at all times.
  • Must be available to work overtime if .
  • May be exposed to sharp edges fall hazards hazardous chemicals and conditions poor illumination and inclement weather.
  • Shall handle weights to 100 pounds with an average of 50 pounds and carry up to a distance of 200 feet.
  • Work phase is normally moderate with short periods of high activity during power outages severe weather or ship movements.

What Youll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Four (4) years of relevant ship or industrial mechanic/ machinist experience or Four (4) years of experience serving in a Navy Engineering rating. Must have a valid drivers license and qualify to operate government/company vehicles in accordance with the Corporate Fleet Vehicle Safety Manual.
  • Removes ships main propulsion machinery including turbine generators internal combustion engines reduction gears propeller shafts pumps valves auxiliary engines ordnance machinery and other shipboard components.
  • Duties may also include work on hydraulic actuators boat davits capstans windlasses and auxiliary cranes.
  • Installing blanks to shipboard piping locating repairing and isolation leaks to systems and hull.
  • Removing interference to including system components ducking and bulkheads to support work.
  • Knowledge and experience with various mechanical tools including electrical and pneumatic.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Four (6) years of experience serving in a Navy Engineering rating.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalency.
