Job Summary:

Applies Engineering technology to the planning functional design operation and management of transportation facilities in order to provide for the safeefficient and economical movement of people and goods. Assignments require working in the field in various weather conditions in-state overnight travel. Rotate during EIT program through different areas of assignment including construction project management and design.

This position may offer the ability to work remotely within Arizona based upon the departments business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Job Duties:

Performs engineering duties and task related to project development constructionand operations with oversight from supervisors

Design plans

Analyze data related to materials safetyconstruction parameters and specifications

Knowledge Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:
Project design process plan preparation and fundamental design concepts for roadways bridges and associated traffic.
Project development process including funding scope and scheduling.
Construction means and methods as well as construction standards and specification.
Design and construction contract and the administration associated with these contracts.
Engineering related to transportation systems and maintenance operation.

Skill in:
The use of engineering and design software.
Associated with the development and construction of transportation projects.

Ability to:
Prepare both design and construction cost estimates for project.
Work in inclement weather conditions.

Selective Preference(s):

Bachelors of Science - Civil Engineering or equivalent or four years experience in transportation engineering field.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Fundamental of Engineering (FE) Certification has to be completed by 2nd year from their state hire date.

This position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job and the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current valid class-appropriate drivers license complete all required training and successfully pass all necessary drivers license record checks. The license must be current unexpired and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to drivers license record checks must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R.11).

All newly hired State employees are subject to and must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).
