The Boeing Company is currently seeking Embedded Software Engineer to support our Software Engineering team located inPlano Texas; Mesa Arizona; Long Beach California; St. Louis Missouri; Oklahoma City Oklahoma in a Virtual capacity. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) Software Engineering organization.

We are seeking talented early to mid-career embedded software engineers from across the country to join our Software Engineering team focused on developing embedded real-time software for our avionics hardware solutions.

We are particularly interested in engineers who are passionate about one or more of the following areas:

  • Low-Level Development: Creating middleware and platform software running on Linux and real-time operating systems. Collaborating across engineering disciplines to define develop and debug hardware/software interfaces for avionics systems. Experience with infrastructure software domains and on-target debugging knowledge is a plus.

  • High-Integrity Software Development: Deriving and allocating requirements with traceability throughout the software lifecycle. Designing solutions that meet requirements and defining application interfaces. Developing and reviewing code that adheres to necessary safety and quality standards.

  • Integration and Test Automation: Integrating software components on emulated and target hardware. Identifying vulnerabilities and ensuring software resilience. Developing and executing test plans including automated tests for low-level safety-critical software.

A successful candidate will be able to independently tackle challenging problems communicate effectively and take responsibility for the complete software lifecycle. All candidates are expected to possess working knowledge of modern software engineering tools and practices such as Distributed Version Control Systems (DVCS) Continuous Integration (CI) Continuous Deployment (CD) and a bias towards automation.

Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Associate Experienced and Senior Level Software Engineers.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Design develop test debug and maintain software integrated into embedded devices and systems ensuring compliance with industry customer safety and regulatory standards.

  • Review analyze and translate customer requirements into software product designs for embedded devices and systems.

  • Build and write code for embedded systems software tailored to specific specialized hardware.

  • Integrate embedded software with hardware components effectively.

  • Provide guidance on software and hardware integration best practices.

  • Implement current and emerging technologies tools frameworks and regulatory changes relevant to software and hardware development.

  • Test and debug software for embedded devices and systems to ensure functionality and reliability.

  • Analyze monitor and enhance the efficiency and stability of embedded software systems.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • 2 years of experience do you have programming in C C or C#

  • 2 years of experience do you have with the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)

  • 1 year of experience do you have with Bash and Python

  • 1 years of experience do you have in embedded software development

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology) chemistry physics mathematics data science or computer science.

  • Level 2: 1 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Level 3: 3 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Level 4: 5 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Experience in scripting and automation using Python and Bash

  • Knowledge and experience with developing software in relation to one or more of the following standards: DO-178C NASA-STD-5001 MIL-STD-498 MIL-STD-882 MIL-HDBK-516C.

  • Experience with middleware/platform software development

  • Experience identifying software vulnerabilities and implementing effective measures to protect the software

  • Understanding of fundamental cyber security concepts such as secure boot encryption and key management

  • Experience developing and executing test plans test cases and requirement-based tests for complex software systems

  • Experience with hardware debuggers (e.g. JTAG logic analyzers bus analyzers etc.)

  • Experience debugging integrating and testing software in emulated and hardware-in-the-loop environments

  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate in a virtual work environment

  • Ability to independently identify and solve problems encountered on the job using both creativity and established engineering principles

  • Strong analytical skills including the ability to isolate issues with logs and test results

Summary pay range for Associate Level (Level 2): $87000 - $130200

Summary pay range for Experienced Level (Level 3): $109000- $163000

Summary pay range for Senior Level (Level 4): $136000- $203000
