The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a full-time Research Project Manager II. The Division on Substance Use Disorders Department of Psychiatry New York State Psychiatric Institute is seeking a Masters level applicant for a Research Project Manager II position. This is a full-time position. The candidate will fulfill the role of a Technology Transfer Specialist for the Opioid Response Network (ORN) which coordinates and provides training and technical assistance to enhance efforts already underway in New York and New Jersey focusing on applying evidence-based practices in prevention treatment and recovery for substance use disorders (with a specific focus on opioid and stimulant use disorders) to meet locally identified needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • This position will work within the Opioid Response Network (ORN) a SAMHSA funded training and technical assistance (TTA) program to assist with implementation on cross systems projects that focus on supporting substance-used related work in both New York and New Jersey.
  • Manage caseload of 20-30 Technical Assistance (TA) requests under the supervision of the Project Director (Research Project Manager III) to facilitate planning communication and provision of appropriate TA to individuals and organizations. Oversee the day to day operations of TTA protocols involving coordination of state and national partners as well as appropriate triaging of ORN resources.
  • Coordinate detailed logistics for project activities data management outcome evaluations and oversee day to day to operations to meet deliverables and tight deadlines.
  • Support the technical assistance teams in the substantive coordination of TA requests including the conduct of needs assessment identification of evidence-based interventions linkage to TA resources and selection of and coordination with consultants.
  • Assist with and/or deliver training and technical assistance where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with state and regional agencies outreach and/or exhibiting to stakeholders and community providers and increasing knowledge about evidence-based practices to address opioid and stimulant use disorders

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in public health social work psychology or a related field or bachelors degree with (3)-(5) years of experience in a related field or project management in mental health or behavioral health.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience as a provider of mental health substance use or related health services preferred.
  • Familiarity with substance use resources in the New York and New Jersey region; Comfortable working independently and as part of a small team.
  • Experience with project management and project management software
  • Knowledge of substance use disorders in particular best practices for the treatment of opioid use disorders.
  • Ability to think strategically and manage multiple projects on a tight time frame with excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
