Bon Secours Hospital Cork is currently accepting applications for the full-time role of Clerical officer Grade IV Billing & Accounts.
Job Profile
- To participate in the efficient operation of the Revenue Cycle Credit Control function within the Hospital in a supervisory and operational capacity.
- To deputise for the Clerical Officer Grade V in his/her absence while at all times ensuring the efficient running of the department.
- To assist in the review of overall debt outstanding to the hospital with the aim of reducing DSO as well as minimising the impact on the bad debt provision.
- Oversee the management of patient accounts ensuring follow up for the timely collection of outstanding balances.
- To review insurer payment reports ensuring appropriate and timely action to be taken to follow up on part settled/ pended / rejected claims.
- In liaison with the Clerical Officer Grade V draw up a staff training programme for all aspects of the clerical function and be instrumental in the development and implementation of induction for new clerical officers.
- Ensure each member of the team will be trained to become competent in all areas in order to provide cross cover through the development of SOPs for all Credit Control processes.
- Carry out ad-hoc projects/duties that may be assigned by site lead.
- The role includes co-operating with other hospital departments to ensure invoicing and claims are processed accurately and efficiently.
- To adhere at all times to Hospital policy procedures and protocol
- Establish and maintain adequate controls in relation to payments receipting cash collection and lodgement to the bank for same.
- Establish and ensure that correct protocols are observed when dealing with patients other staff and the public and encourage staff to deal with all queries both internal and external in a courteous efficient and respectful manner.
- To ensure that any complaints/queries in relation to fees etc. are dealt with professionally in line with Best Practice and the Bon Secours Core Values
Person Specification - Essential Requirements
- Hold a relevant secretarial/business qualification and have achieved an excellent level of proficiency in same
- Supervisory / Line Management experience would be desirable
- Have excellent interpersonal communication and organisation skills and have the ability to work on his/her own initiative
- Have previousexperience in a similar role
- Enjoy working in a busy environment have advanced administrative skills as well as strong attention to detail with an ability to work to strict deadlines.
- The ability to handle sensitive and confidential information and have a proven track record in providing excellent customer service.
