Job Summary:
The City of Loveland collects preserves and makes available for research a wide collection of historical resources. Currently these archival materials are distributed between the Loveland Public Library and the Loveland Museum. The Archives Assistant will report to the Museums Collections Manager and will be responsible for supporting the complete merger process. The primary objective of this project is to centralize these collections at the Museum establishing a single secure environment for preservation and access. This project involves the physical transfer of selected archival items from the Library to the Museum and their subsequent integration into the Museums content management system. This position provides hands-on archival project management and collaboration across municipal departments.
The salary range for this position is $24.29 per hour depending on qualifications and experience. This opportunity will be available to applicants until Monday 12.1.25 at 12:00 P.M. M.S.T.
The Loveland Museum is seeking to hire an Archives Assistant to play a vital role in this collection unification project. This has an anticipated work schedule of 19 hours a week for approximately 1 year. Work hours will need to be completed between M-F.

Essential Functions:
- Coordinate with staff to select inventory and ensure secure physical transport of archival materials from the Library to the Museum.
- Complete the physical and digital merging of the Librarys collections into the existing system.
- Assist in establishing processes priorities and develop standard procedures for the unified collections.
- Manage archival projects establish priorities and determine appropriate level of processing for incoming collections.
- Develop refine and enhance workflows and local descriptive procedures. Ensure compliance to archival and department standards.
- Collaborate with staff and external partners to identify resources and establish a comprehensive reference guide for public access.
- Assist with the full cycle of research requests.
- Support volunteers and staff in archival process and collections management.

Qualifications:
Education:
- Associate degree or higher in History Art History Anthropology or a related field required. Bachelors or higher preferred.
Experience:
- 1 year previous experience as a Museum Archivist registrar or other collections related position required.
- 2 yearsprevious experience as a Museum Archivist registrar or other collections related position preferred.
An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may substitute for the education requirement on a year for year basis.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Working proficiency with computers and systems is required.
- Professional knowledge of arrangement and description of archival collections standard principles and practices and storage.
- Experience and knowledge of the safe movement packing and storing of archival collections.
- Familiarity with collection management systems (CMS); direct experience with PastPerfect is strongly preferred.
- Previous experience in archives processing.
- Database computer skills.
- Flexible and adapt quickly to changing priorities and deadlines.
- Strong analytical organizational communication and time management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills. Build and sustain effective collaborative working relationships.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
- Frequent minimal physical effort typically found in clerical work. Primarily sedentary may occasionally lift and carry light objects. Walking and/or standing as needed and minimal.
- Frequent light to moderate physical effort that includes frequent standing or walking or maintaining arms and hands in the same position for repetitive tasks. Frequently works with light objects and light hand tools.
- Frequent exposure to hazards typically found in general office environments where there is rarely to no exposure to injury or accident.
- Occasional moderate to considerable physical effort that includes working from ladders in awkward positions. Frequent use of light or medium weight objects (e.g. 25-50 lbs) and use of medium weight tools.
