Hong Kong Baptist University is a leading research liberal arts university in Asia. Founded in 1968 the School of Communication comprises three departmentsJournalism Communication Studies and Interactive Media. Together they offer seven programmes at the undergraduate and postgraduate (MA MPhil PhD) levels to 2000 students. As a leading school in the Asia-Pacific region its faculty members work in a dynamic interdisciplinary academic environment that entails collaboration across multiple fields of study.
Manager ()
The appointee is expected to provide secretarial and administrative support to the Office of the Dean of Communication. The appointee is responsible for:
- Leading the administration team in supporting the programmes offered by the School including budgeting and financial monitoring admissions academic advising quality assurance scholarships and student affairs;
- Managing human resources matters including staff appointments and annual performance reviews;
- Providing administrative support for the Schools research activities;
- Liaising with internal and external units/parties;
- Drafting papers/reports and serving on committees;
- Assisting in Schools events and activities; and
- Performing any other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Requirements:
- A Bachelors degree with at least 7 years of relevant working experience with supervisory responsibilities;
- Strong sense of ownership and flexibility in handling competing priorities and changes;
- Strong interpersonal analytical and organisational skills;
- Good command of English and Chinese (both Cantonese and Putonghua).
- Effective communication skills and a strong team player;
- Proficiency in computing applications particularly MS Office (Word Excel and PowerPoint) as well as Chinese and English word processing;
- Self-motivated with a pleasant personality able to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a writing test.
The initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract of two years commencing in January 2026. Re-appointment thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
