Description
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) Join our dedicated team of nurses at HeartShare Human Services of New York where you will play a vital role in enhancing the health and quality of life for the individuals we serve. We are currently seeking Registered Nurses (RNs) for full-time part-time and on-call positions.
As an RN you will:
- Provide specialized nursing care and support to individuals with IDD promoting their independence and addressing their unique healthcare needs.
- Advocate for the healthcare needs and rights of individuals ensuring they receive the best possible care.
- Train Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) and Approved Medication Administration Personnel (AMAP) in nursing tasks and supervise their performance.
- Oversee health services for individuals in residential settings and ensure coordination with medical and clinical teams.
- Maintain thorough documentation including nursing assessments post-ER visit follow-ups and medication management.
- Collaborate with medical specialists and clinical staff to deliver comprehensive care.
- Conduct medication inventory certify AMAP staff and ensure compliance with OPWDD health training requirements.
- Participate in program planning and attend nursing department meetings.
- Respond to emergencies promptly and provide individualized nursing interventions.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Current NYS Registered Nurse (RN) license and registration.
- At least one year of nursing experience with a strong preference for experience working with individuals with IDD.
- American Heart Association issued Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Excellent communication and advocacy skills with a commitment to promoting the health and rights of individuals with IDD.
