Specialist, Software Engineer (Mainframe)

This role will work a hybrid schedule coming into the Columbus Ohio office (Wednesday & Thursday).

This role provides an exciting opportunity to lead application development and design responsibilities in support of the Annuity Broker Dealer projects on the Mainframe responsibilities include capability uplift around Mainframe software engineering practices.

Required Skills:

• Mainframe (COBOL CICS JCL TSO UAC Changeman IBM Debugger Fault Analyzer)

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Experience working and troubleshooting in large cobol codebases

• Familiarity with APIs microservices distributed platforms a huge plus

• Communication/coordinationskills

• Documentation skills

• Agile / Scrum experience

• Manages medium to large project priorities deadlines and deliverables proactively.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to a Technology Manager/Director.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Completion of undergraduate studies in computer science management information systems or other related degree. Technology experience or non-traditional technology certificates can be substituted for an undergraduate degree.

Experience: Four or more years of analysis and technology experience.

Knowledge Abilities and Skills: Proficiency in one or more programming language such as Java C Python JavaScript. Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle. Proven ability to tackle complex business and development problems. Ability to thrive in a team environment. Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.

Other criteria including leadership skills competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring managers leader and Human Resources Business Partner.
