TITLE: Grants Intern
JOB CATEGORY: Non-Exempt (Hourly)
STATUS: Part-Time 20 hours per week 6 12 months
TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT: Temporary
DIRECT SUPERVISOR: Senior Director of Grants and Strategic Projects
REGION/UNIT: US/CENTRAL OFFICE
LOCATION: Philadelphia PA USA Hybrid in office once per month and for retreats.

GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Grants Internship offers students and emerging professionals the opportunity to contribute to AFSCs strategic fundraising initiatives. Interns will focus on a small number of special assignments selected for their educational value and relevance to current organizational priorities. Project assignments vary each term and are developed in collaboration with the interns supervisor.
Interns gain exposure to philanthropy nonprofit strategy and social justice issues while producing tangible deliverables they can feature in their professional portfolios.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Funding Landscape Analysis
- Research philanthropic trends and identify emerging funders in a particular region or thematic area.
- Prepare summary reports.
Case Study Creation
- Gather program narratives data and quotes to produce a themed case study for use in fundraising materials.
Historical Grants Archive & Reconciliation Project
- Review a defined set of historical grant records in Salesforce and shared drives identify inconsistencies and prepare a reconciled dataset for archival purposes. This project covers a fixed dataset and concludes at the end of the internship term.
Resource Development Project
- Compile organize and format a discrete set of materials (e.g. thematic briefs fact sheets) for internal or external use.
- Regular attendance and punctuality are required.
- Operates safely in all conditions and follows policies and procedures.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
SUPERVISORY / MANAGEMENT REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or equivalent required. Current undergraduate or graduate student (or recent graduate) in public administration nonprofit studies political science or related fields preferred.
- One year of excellent communication writing and research skills preferred. Familiarity with Salesforce preferred.
- Ability to work evenings and/or weekends and to travel as
- Ability to work effectively independently and within a team environment.
- Experience with standard Microsoft Office and related technology.
- Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high-volume environment with multiple priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to work and communicate with diverse staff.
