EduTalent Group is representing a primary school seeking caring flexible and dedicated Learning Support Assistants to join a supportive and inclusive primary school environment in West Sussex.
This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children supporting their academic social and emotional development. You will work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to provide high-quality learning support for pupils with a range of additional needs including those with Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and medical requirements.
Your role will help ensure that all pupils can access learning develop communication and social skills and participate fully in school life.
Key Responsibilities
Provide classroom-based support for pupils with EHCPs and medical needs
Assist in delivering targeted interventions to support communication literacy and personal development
Encourage positive behaviour choices and apply agreed behaviour support strategies
Work with small groups or on a 1:1 basis to reinforce learning and build confidence
Support the inclusion of all pupils in classroom and playground activities
Supervise pupils during break and lunchtimes promoting safe and positive play
Liaise with class teachers the SENCO and external agencies to ensure consistent support
Attend to pupils personal social and welfare needs where required
Maintain accurate records and contribute to pupil progress reviews
Engage in professional development and participate in relevant training opportunities
Requirements
Essential:
Experience working with children or young people in a school or educational setting
A passion for supporting pupils of all abilities to achieve their full potential
Understanding of strategies to promote positive behaviour and inclusion
Ability to work flexibly independently and as part of a team
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils
Willingness to support personal care and medical needs when required
GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
Desirable:
Experience supporting pupils with SEND particularly communication and interaction needs
Training in interventions such as Read Write Inc. or Catch Up Literacy
Experience working with EHCP pupils and implementing outside agency strategies
Relevant qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (Level 2 or 3)
Team Teach or equivalent positive behaviour management training
Benefits
Contract: Permanent and long term contracts available 30 hours per week 39 weeks per year (Term Time plus 1 week)
