Description
The Admissions Counselor is responsible for recruiting qualified prospective students for North Greenville University by implementing strategic recruitment initiatives which include intentional engagement with each student and family member engaged in the college decision process. The counselor will serve as the primary point of contact on behalf of North Greenville University for prospective students and will collaborate with other departments across campus as needed. Each counselor is assigned a recruitment territory with corresponding recruitment goals that contribute to the overall new student enrollment efforts. The Admissions Counselor role is external facing representing all facets of the North Greenville University community.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as an active member of a highly-collaborative team-oriented admissions office.
- Share the mission core values and distinctives of North Greenville University with prospective students and their family members and external stakeholders.
- Recruit students within an assigned geographic territory.
- Meet or exceed enrollment goals for incoming students.
- Collaborate with the Recruiting Team (other Admissions Counselors) to support the recruiting team as a whole and meet team goals.
- Travel to represent North Greenville University at a variety of engagements that foster interaction with potential students and families (high schools college fairs churches and other events).
- Cultivate positive relationships with prospective students and families.
- Engage with prospective students and maintain consistent contact via telephone email text and written communication.
- Document interactions with prospective students and family members in CRM.
- Learn federal state and institutional financial aid policies.
- Manage assigned admissions funnel by reviewing admissions applications making admissions decisions based on established criteria and communicating with students regarding the next steps of the enrollment process.
- Clearly articulate the value of Christian Higher Education to prospective students and family members.
- Develop a specific and diverse travel strategy for assigned recruiting territory. Determine how to best use time and resources to engage with students parents and key stakeholders from assigned territory. Plan and execute frequent school visits and event attendance in assigned territory.
- Be present for and assist with all on-campus admissions events.
- Serve on occasion as the Admissions representative at internal recruiting events (i.e. admissions presentations athletic prospect events fine arts programs youth rallies etc.)
- Supervise student workers assigned to this position
- Serve on various internal and external committees atthe direction of the Director of Admissions.
- Each employee at North Greenville University plays a vital role in assisting with the execution of the mission to glorify God by equipping graduates to serve as transformational leaders for church and society.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry items up to thirty pounds.
- Dexterity: grasping feeling writing typing and using the telephone copier and computer systems.
- Mobility: stand for long periods of time; walk while carrying recruiting materials; move between departments and attend meetings across campus
- Frequently convey detailed accurate and essential information in a manner that can be clearly understood.
- Adequate hearing ability to communicate effectively in person over the phone and via audio/video conferencing.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
This position is a full-time position in the Office of Admissions. The Admissions Counselor reports directly to the Associate Director for Recruiting.
WORK SCHEDULE
The Office of Admissions is open Monday through Thursday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Summer hours may vary. Office hours are subject to change as deemed necessary. Occasional work on weekends and evenings is required.
TRAVEL
Consistent travel is requiredofthe Admissions Counselor. The counselor will travel to assigned territories to promote the university and will occasionally travel to additional events schools and destinations on behalf of the Admissions Team. Mileage Reimbursement is offered for any work-related travel.

Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree.
- Computer literacy and knowledge of Microsoft Office. Knowledge of programs such as Jenzabar J1 Slate Salesforce or similar customer relationship management software programs is preferred.
- Possess and maintain avalid drivers license.
- Excellent interpersonal written and public communication skills.
- Bilingual in Spanish/English preferred.
- Excellent customer service and hospitality.
- Ability to organize prioritize and problem solve with frequent interruptions.
- Supports NGUs mission core values and commitment to a Christian lifestyle and character in keeping with biblical model.
- Affirms an understanding and full support for the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
