Job Purpose and Impact

The Market Risk Analyst will identify assess and mitigate this role you will establish risk management procedures and processes to ensure adherence to policies and you will contribute to determining potential loss due to market movements.

Key Accountabilities

  • Monitor and analyze market risk exposures using metrics such as Value-at-Risk (VaR) and Stress testing
  • Produce daily risk reporting and P&L analysis for energy trading desks (power gas emissions etc.)
  • Collaborate with traders middle office and other stakeholders to ensure accurate risk representation
  • Assist in the development and automation of risk tools dashboards and controls
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of data quality and risk processes
  • Communicate market risk insights and analytics clearly across the organization
  • Participate in the implementation of cost-effective risk mitigation strategies
  • Solve moderately complex issues independently and escalate more complex matters as needed

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in engineering Finance Economics or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the energy or financial services industry
  • Strong Excel skills and programming experience in SQL and/or Python

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to any energy markets (Power Gas Oil Carbon a plus)
  • Experience with data handling model building and ideally risk modeling
  • Familiarity with visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau
  • Basic understanding of financial instruments and market dynamics

Key Technical Skills:

  • Strong analytical and data management skills
  • Understanding of market risk concepts and risk metrics
  • Ability to work with large datasets and automate reporting processes

Soft Skills

  • Excellent communication skills able to translate complex data into actionable insights
  • Strong interpersonal skills able to build trust and collaborate with traders and cross-functional teams
  • Proactive curious and eager to learn in a fast-paced environmentTeam-oriented with a problem-solving mindset
