Our client located in Washington DC is seeking a Director of Grassroots Policy. This is an excellent opportunity to engage with policymakers and contribute to the alignment of policy priorities and strategy! This position is hybrid requiring two days per week in the office.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Grassroots Policy maintains and strengthens the organizations alliances with relevant state associations by supporting leadership in managing relationships with 15 regional partners. This position ensures each association is actively engaged across key areas including political advocacy policy volunteer leadership education training and member services.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage all aspects of the grassroots program including budget program structure and coordination with the organization and regional leadership and federal regulatory agency contacts.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key agency contacts at CFPB FDIC Federal Reserve Treasury and others.
- Schedule and execute policy briefings and agency meetings.
- Process understand and analyze information on related policy membership advocacy products/services technology governance and other vital association functions to make decisions that effectively grow engagement between the organization and the regions.
- Work with other key stakeholders across the organization track engagement and develop strategies to build and grow relationships in specific areas.
- Conduct outreach to regions to build relationships with leadership and identify opportunities to grow and tailor engagement.
- Plan and execute the annual grassroots workshop and in collaboration with team colleagues the annual grassroots conference.
- Work with leadership to plan and coordinate additional engagements including workshops and meetings.
- Manage all related communications including weekly Zoom meetings and newsletters and event marketing.
- Manage and support key initiatives including surveys ad hoc working groups etc.
- Represent the team in interdepartmental meetings to promote the value and impact of the organizations strong relationships with regions.
- Support other initiatives including forums awards program and programming at conferences.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Exceptional program management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Skill in analyzing and synthesizing information related to policy governance and membership engagement to develop actionable strategies
- Proven ability to build and sustain strategic relationships with diverse stakeholders including association partners government agencies and industry leaders
- Proven ability to coordinate cross-functional initiatives and partner effectively with internal teams including advocacy communications education and member engagement
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines
- Collaborative diplomatic and highly responsive approach with a strong commitment to member service and partnership
- Ability to travel up to 20%
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Bachelors degree or commensurate experience
- Seven or more years of progressively responsible experience in government relations public affairs association management or stakeholder engagement
- Demonstrated experience in policy advocacy or regulatory engagement with working knowledge of financial services issues preferred
- Experience planning and executing high-profile meetings workshops and events involving senior executives and government representatives
- Experience presenting to senior audiences and facilitating collaboration across departments
- Experience managing communications and outreach initiatives including newsletters digital platforms and virtual engagement tools such as Higher Logic or similar systems
