PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Custodial Coordinator under the general supervision of the Lead Maintenance Technician provides direct supervision of regional employees and ensures consistent compliance with the implementation of the Districts standardized cleaning and safety processes for all campuses and facilities. Directs all campus-level activities including evaluation scheduling and inspection of facility cleaning activities and maintains effective relationships with campus administration. Administer organize and conduct departmental training programs aimed at establishing effective cleaning strategies for District properties.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certifications
- High School diploma or equivalent certification preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
- Ability to designate shift and area of work assignments for custodians (temporary/ replacements) lead personnel and conduct training.
- Ability to perform general maintenance tasks as needed.
- Thorough knowledge of the standard methods equipment and supplies in a large-or small-scale Janitorial activities of service.
- Knowledge of floor care (hard floor polished concrete and carpeting).
- Ability to work with a diverse workforce.
- Ability to communicate effectively and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to operate and use tools/ equipment for training purposes.
- Ability to make the most efficient use of personnel as instructed can delegate tasks and assignments.
- Considerable knowledge of employee policies and procedures.
- Ability to follow instructions and respond using written communication.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Ability to work effectively independently or with a team.
- Basic knowledge of general housekeeping methods and practices cleaning products and their use.
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
Preferred Experience
- Two years of experience is preferred.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

- The ability to communicate ideas and instructions clearly and concisely is required.
- Conducts inspections and investigates tenant/ customer complaints of the building and checks for cleanliness and repairs that are required.
- Responsible for assisting in the overall direction coordination and evaluation of staff engaged in cleaning and maintaining the site premises by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate staff.
- Fulfills management instructions in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws.
- Assists with the evaluation of performance of custodial personnel; prepares and submits disciplinary actions and incident reports; counsels employees.
- Holds staff briefings to cover key topics for the day/week.
- Identifies development and training needs and ensures that all training is obtained.
- Maintain records prepare reports and compose correspondence relative to the work.
- Makes rounds to check for crew coverage of designated work areas gives special cleaning instructions and/ or assignments and is in compliance with the direction of upper Management.
- Trains and ensures that the subordinate staff understand their job requirements which include proper cleaning methods use of equipment safety practices illness and injury prevention and work regulations.
- Assists with coverage when needed for all facilities when local staff cannot be present.
- Assists with ensuring overall customer satisfaction which includes reporting to Upper Management.
- Ensures proper labor relations and conditions of employment are maintained.
- Corresponds with Lead Maintenance Technician for support updates and duties.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise daily work of assistant leads and custodians; inspect all assigned areas to ensure work is being carried out properly and orderly.
MENTAL AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS & ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to grasp handle or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to stand walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and /or move up to 25 pounds.
