SHIFT: 2nd shift (3:00 PM 11:30 PM Monday Friday).

SUMMARY

The Manufacturing Engineering Technician provides direct technical support to the production floor under the guidance of manufacturing engineers. This role reviews and prepares job documentation assists with process setup and troubleshooting and ensures that manufacturing data and instructions are accurate and aligned with production requirements. The technician works closely with Engineering Programming and Production teams to maintain efficient workflows and support ongoing process improvements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Include the following; other duties may be assigned:

  • Serve as first-line technical support for SMT and Through-Hole manufacturing operations equipment and operators.
  • Perform engineering review of Screaming Circuits (SC) jobs using FactoryLogix (FLX) ensuring documentation is accurate and complete.
  • Analyze customer documentation and convert or adjust FLX data to meet production process requirements.
  • Design fabricate or coordinate tooling fixtures and aids to support efficient manufacturing processes.
  • Evaluate existing processes and recommend improvements to increase quality reduce cost and improve throughput.
  • Identify SMT and Through-Hole component characteristics and validate specifications using vendor datasheets and IPC standards.
  • Collect track and present department operational metrics as required.
  • Communicate clearly with internal teams and when necessary external customers to resolve documentation or data questions.
  • Accurately document work and maintain organized records in accordance with company procedures.
  • Apply sound judgment to make routine technical decisions with limited oversight.
  • Support process audits new job setups and programming needs by providing accurate and timely data.
  • Promote and support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Regular on-site attendance is required to perform the essential functions of the role.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • One-year technical certificate or coursework in electronics engineering manufacturing or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in electronics manufacturing SMT operations or process technician work preferred but not required for final consideration.
  • Prior experience working with structured work instructions manufacturing documentation or ERP/MES systems is beneficial.

Technical Skills

  • Experience with SMT processes strongly preferred including:
    • Stencil design and ordering
    • Reflow oven profiling
    • BGA handling and rework fundamentals
    • Component package identification
  • Familiarity with IPC-A-610 standards.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel Word Outlook).
  • Experience with press-fit swage or conformal coating processes is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings schematics and datasheets.

Competencies

  • Technical Comprehension: Ability to read interpret and apply technical documentation such as assembly drawings component datasheets and manufacturing work instructions.
  • Problem Solving & Reasoning: Ability to identify issues evaluate data draw conclusions and make sound decisions in both structured and fast-paced production environments.
  • Mathematical Application: Ability to apply basic arithmetic and algebraic concepts to set-ups measurements dimensional checks counts and yield calculations.
  • Communication: Able to communicate clearly and professionally with internal teams including Engineering Production Quality and Programming teams; occasional interaction with customers and suppliers.

  • Regularly required to stand walk sit and use hands to handle tools or computer equipment.
  • Frequently required to reach bend kneel or crouch.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds routinely and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
