Job Summary

TITLE: Construction Technician APPROVED 01/27/25

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High school graduate or equivalent required.

2. Vocational technical training or Associates degree or minimum of five years experience and knowledge in

maintenance skills in the following areas:

3. Framing and design

4. Wall and roof construction

5. Casework and furniture repair

6. General wood repair processes

7. Building maintenance

8. Shop equipment operation and maintenance

9. Able to climb ladders use scaffolding aerial lifts scissor lifts etc. Ability to weld and fabricate is a plus.

10. Valid PA drivers license with approved clearance from MTSD vehicle insurance carrier.

11. Such alternatives to the above as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

REPORTS TO:Maintenance Manager

JOB GOAL:Provide a safe comfortable environment that is conducive to teaching and learning. Strive to keep all Millcreek school buildings and grounds in the best condition possible in the most cost-effective way while maintaining operational compliance with laws regulations and Board policies.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Perform maintenance and repair work on all District buildings and associated structures.
  2. Design and erect building components. This will include but not limited to demolition and tear-out foundation layout framing and structure formation siding and exterior trim decks and porches window and exterior door installation roofing and flashing interior millwork and doors door and counter laminations cabinet installation bathroom partitions hardware installation appliance installation interior and exterior painting final detailing and
  3. Design build repair and finish furniture of various types consistent with the Districts needs including whiteboards smartboards projector mounts etc.
  4. Install repair and re-finish drywall including painting these surfaces.
  5. Install and repair various flooring and base types throughout district including ceramic and vinyl tile carpet forbo and wood.
  6. Install and repair acoustic ceiling tile grid and tiles.
  7. Install and repair sidewalk pavers and other concrete throughout the district.
  8. Assist in identifying roof problems and recommending remediation.
  9. Repair district exterior brickwork including the replacement of bricks and repointing.
  10. Install and maintain miscellaneous district athletic equipment like gym wall pads bleachers batting cages lockers etc.
  11. Maintain all tools equipment machinery and vehicles provided by the School District.
  12. Ensure compliance with OSHA DCNR DEP requirements State and Local Codes and District safety standards. Correct and report discrepancies to Maintenance leadership.
  13. Keep records of materials measurements and time on each job for future references.
  14. Drive pickup trucks dump trucks and van trucks as needed to perform requested tasks.
  15. Coordinate major carpentry repairs with Maintenance Department to include cost and material estimates.
  16. Show a demonstrated interest in continued development of skills in maintenance and care of District properties.
  17. Assist in snow removal of the school district properties.
  18. Willing to work overtime weekends or holidays as required by the District.
  19. Collaborate with coworkers and follow directions of maintenance leadership or group leader.
  20. Any other duties assigned by the Superintendent or their designee.

  1. Ability to sit talk and hear.
  2. Ability to stand walk climb balance stoop kneel crouch or crawl and move quickly when necessary to promote student learning and/or safety.
  3. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Over 50 pounds requires assistance. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

SENSORY ABILITY:

  1. Ability to speak clearly and distinctly.
  2. Auditory acuity to be able to use telephone.
