Amazons Finance Technology organization (FinTech) builds and maintains the finance technology applications that enable new business growth compliance with financial and tax reporting obligations and analysis of our financial data. Through our products we aim to maximize time spent by Finance teams on high value analysis reduce the growth of operating expenses and improve the vendor experience.
Join the FinCompass team in FinTech org and be part of enabling other Amazonians to create and process financial data at lowest latency records! You will lead a mission-critical team to influence how financial data should be generated and treated at Amazon scale. Your team will own this product end to end including front end and backend services. You will guide a group of high performing software dev engineers to explore the latest on AWS Products ML Big Data technologies and innovate to build highly available secure scalable and performant solutions.
The FinCompass team supports 1800 datasets which help generate more than 5500 reports totaling 13 petabytes of data with record counts ranging from hundreds to billions! This information is used by more than 700 teams across FGBS to help Amazon scale on their financial operations.
Key job responsibilities
Define the long-term vision strategy and goals for your teams
Manage a development team responsible for innovating on data transfers with low latency at the same time insist on the highest standards to ensure completeness and accuracy of data.
Prioritize plan projects and features manage partners and track external commitments.
Drive continual improvements to the efficiency and flexibility of the platform while keeping an extremely high bar on customer trust performance and availability.

- 3 years of engineering team management experience
- 7 years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3 years of designing or architecting (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 8 years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing certification and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience in communicating with users other technical teams and senior leadership to collect requirements describe software product features technical designs and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting hiring mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers
