Your Opportunity
One Permanent Full Time Position.
The Lead Product & Trade Control is responsible for managing the Product and Trade Control Middle Office functions within the Commodity Risk Management Program ensuring the integrity accuracy and compliance of trading and risk activities. This role oversees the daily operations of deal and position validation price curve review exception reporting and risk controls while providing leadership mentorship and strategic direction to the team. The Lead acts as the primary point of contact for audit inquiries drives process improvements and ensures all trading activities and reporting adhere to risk policies delegation of authorities and internal limits. The Lead also ensures robust workflow configuration and system integrity across ETRM platforms supporting the organizations risk management objectives.
You will contribute to our team by:
Manage and mentor the Trade Operations team fostering a culture of accuracy compliance and continuous improvement.
Oversee daily deal and position validation ensuring all transactions are accurately captured validated and reconciled in the ETRM system.
Oversee daily risk reporting.
Review and approve price curves and P&L attribution ensuring reliable financial and risk reporting and explaining sources of P&L and impacts of market activity.
Maintain robust Middle Office controls and ensure all trading activities are authorized and within internal limits and delegation of authorities.
Coordinate and support internal and external audit inquiries related to trading hedging and risk management activities.
Lead exception and compliance reporting maintaining centralized audit logs and producing trade compliance exception reports for transparency and process effectiveness.
Ensure accurate workflow configuration for validations confirmations amendments and settlements across all deals and structured transactions.
Drive process improvements and system integrity within the ETRM platform ensuring all deals and data are captured and managed in alignment with risk management strategy and objectives.
What you will bring to the role:
Education:
Post-secondary degree in Finance Business Economics or a related field.
Professional designation in a related field an asset (e.g. PRM FRM ERP CFA).
Experience:
5 years of middle office roles such as product control trade control risk management or related functions within energy commodities or financial trading environments.
2 years of managerial experience.
Technical Skills:
Deep understanding of ETRM systems and workflows.
Hands-on experience with daily deal validation price curve review P&L attribution and risk reporting.
Familiarity with SOX compliance and internal control frameworks.
Proven experience managing mentoring and developing middle office teams.
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and drive process improvements.
Strong communication skills for reporting presenting findings and collaborating with front office risk finance and audit teams.
Experience preparing and distributing daily P&L and risk reports to senior management.
Demonstrated ability to drive improvements in workflow configuration data validation and system integrity.
Experience implementing new controls policies or system enhancements.
Working Conditions:
Hybrid Office/Work from home position with possible very minimal travel to meet business users at Capital Power facilities or other offices.
