Job Description:

The University of Florida invites applications for an Assistant Instructional Professor position (non-tenure track) to work in the School of Special Education School Psychology and Early Childhood Studies focused on coordinating and teaching in the online and in-person early childhood programs (undergraduate and masters) offered through UF. The successful applicant will join a collaborative cohesive and energetic community of educators/scholars within the College who are committed to high quality teaching research and service.

We welcome a candidate whose teaching and scholarship focuses on practical theoretical and innovative approaches toward educator preparation and professional learning throughout the career span. Our Early Childhood Studies programs include a comprehensive array of programs that prepare practitioners and researchers for the exciting field of early childhood studies. Expert faculty design learning experiences that teach students in innovative and forward-thinking ways about developmentally appropriate programming and evidence-based practices to support the learning and development of young children and their families.

The successful applicant for the Assistant Instructional Professor position is expected to teach and advise undergraduate students in our early childhood programs; to support other adjunct instructors and faculty who teach courses and/or supervise practicum students in the program; and assist in coordinating the early childhood undergraduate and masters program. This 12-month appointment will begin in August 2026. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach online and in-person courses at the undergraduate and masters level
  • Supervise early childhood practicum students
  • Advise undergraduate and masters students in the early childhood programs
  • Participate in program development and continuous improvement
  • Attend faculty meetings and program coordinator meetings on campus

Expected Salary:

Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Required Qualifications:
  • Doctorate in Education (with an early childhood focus) or closely related field
  • Record of excellence in teaching early childhood courses
  • At least 5 years of experience teaching early childhood courses in a higher education setting
  • Evidence of collaboration with faculty students and other stakeholders
  • Experience designing high-quality online courses
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Commitment to working in an interdisciplinary teaching and learning environment
  • Commitment to active engagement with and/or leadership in education professional organizations
  • Experience supervising adjunct instructors and teaching assistants
  • Evidence of publications and presentations at education conferences (commensurate with experience)
