The University of Amsterdam invites applications for a postdoc position at the universitys Research Centre for Longevity Risk. We are looking for talented and motivated researchers with a strong interest in the centres research activities. For the current vacancy we are looking for candidates who are interested in contributing to the project Pricing and reinsurance of longevity risk.
The successful candidates will be part of a team of researchers at the Research Centre for Longevity Risk. The centre is a joint initiative of the Amsterdam School of Economics and Nationale-Nederlanden and based at the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Amsterdam. The focus of our research is on developments in survival rates and life expectancy how these developments are affected by a variety of factors and how an increasing life span affects the economy and wider society. To strengthen our research on the management of longevity risk we are looking for a new team member who can contribute to our research on pricing and hedging of longevity risk.
Your research will include the development of mathematical methods for pricing and partial hedging in incomplete markets. Research experience and expertise in a relevant area such as incomplete markets and utility indifference pricing will be highly appreciated but are not a requirement. Only candidates with a strong background in Actuarial Science Econometrics Statistics (Applied) mathematics or related fields are encouraged to apply. We offer full-time employment for the period of two years with a probationary period of two months preferably starting 1 January 2026. The UFO Onderzoeker 4 or 3 applies to this position. This position is classified in scale 10 or 11. This means a gross monthly salary between 3546 and 6433 for full-timeemployment (38 hours per week) excluding holiday allowance (8%) and year-end bonus (8.3%). The salary scale depends on competencies and work experience. Thecollective bargaining agreement of Dutch universities applies.

Education and research at UvA Economics and Business (EB) covers a wide range of fields that includes economics data science business administration business analytics accountancy control actuarial science econometrics finance and entrepreneurship. This is organised in 2 Schools: the Amsterdam Business School (ABS) and the Amsterdam School of Economics (ASE). The vacancy at the Research Centre for Longevity Risk is within the Quantitative Economics section of the ASE which is responsible for teaching most quantitative economics related courses at the undergraduate and graduate level. The section produces internationally acclaimed research and covers three different research programs: Actuarial Science & Mathematical Finance Econometrics and Equilibrium Expectations & Dynamics (CeNDEF).
