The Opportunity:

Are you detail-oriented organized and ready to make an impact In this role you will be the key resource for managing surplus property at Washington State University. Under the guidance of the Surplus Supervisor you will:

  • Take charge of surplus propertyreceive items and decide whether they should be resold recycled or repurposed.

  • Drive box trucks across the Pullman campus to pick up surplus items and keep operations moving smoothly.

  • Evaluate items for fair market value and determine the best way to maximize their potential.

  • Showcase your tech skills by listing items for sale through online auctions and using software tools to complete tasks efficiently.

  • Connect with priority and public entities to notify them about available items.

  • Create a great customer experience by setting up and conducting weekly public sales and live auctions.

Additional Information:

This is a full time (100% FTE) permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.

Monthly Salary: $3417 to $4542 Range 38 (Steps A - M) Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110 the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidates current experience education skills and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years of experience receiving and evaluating property with a largescale government or commercial warehouse; OR equivalent education/experience.

  • Must have or be able to obtain by time of hire a valid drivers license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards.

  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

  • Experience providing customer service.

  • Possession of or ability to obtain by time of hire a Forklift Operation Certification.

  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with pricing of used supplies and equipment.

  • Experience with the setup of live and online auctions.

  • Experience with sales of used equipment.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Word Excel Outlook and Access.
