Job Summary

The University of Iowas College of Dentistry is looking for a part time (80%) Dental Assistant to join our Prosthodontics department! No Prosthodontic experience --- No Problem! We provide on the job training to build your prosthodontic knowledge and technique. You will have hands on involvement in procedures including crowns bridges dentures implant restorations and more! Duties

Chairside assisting prosthodontics.

Make radiographs.

Assist in lab duties make alginate impressions custom trays record bases and bleaching trays.

Set up clinical trays for faculty and residents.

Instruct residents on material use.

Explain clinical operation policies and procedures to students grads and faculty.

Inventory control.

Maintain asepsis control.

Digital device setup and maintenance.

Other duties as assigned.

Salary: $37283.33 (Pay Grade: 08)

Schedule: 32 hours per week: To be determined between the hours of 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday Friday

May require occasional overtime as needed.

An advanced starting salarymaybe possible based on exceptional qualifications.

MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

1. Successful completion of a CODA accredited dental assistance program or one-year full time equivalency in chairside assistant experience assisting in four-handed method of dentistry.

2. Must have a current certificate of registration to practice as a dental assistant issued by the Iowa Board of Dental Examiners. (QDA)

3. Must possess current Iowa certificate of proficiency in dental radiography. (QDA)

4. No additional work experience beyond the requirements for this position.

5. May require Expanded Functions (EF-1 and/or EF-2) based on specific needs assigned by provider.

Desirable Qualifications:

Prosthodontic experience.

Excellent written verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
