Job Summary

Position Description:

The Department of Pediatrics Division of Genetics at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) and Childrens Wisconsin (CW) seeks a Genetic Counselor to join our expanding Division. We are comprised of nationally and internationally renowned dedicated group of faculty and staff with a strong commitment to clinical care.

The Rare Disease Treatment Center is seeking a highly motivated and strategic individual to lead access engagement and operational efforts for patients with rare diseases. This position will serve as a central hub for communication between patients caregivers healthcare providers payors and internal stakeholders. This individual will be responsible for overseeing therapeutic access facilitating industry collaborations ensuring timely treatment initiation and delivering educational initiatives around gene and small molecule therapies. The successful candidate will be expected to navigate the multiplexed health environment straddling clinical care and clinical trials. The ideal candidate is both strategic and operational passionate about improving patient outcomes and skilled at navigating complex healthcare ecosystems.

Position Highlights:

  • Patient and Caregiver Engagement: Serving as a trusted resource for patients caregivers and advocacy groups by providing education and support to encourage informed decision-making in clinical trial and treatment options.
  • Data Oversight and Analysis: Oversee the collection management and analysis of data related to rare disease diagnoses and work with stakeholders to ensure accurate real-time insights are available to inform strategy and improve patient outcomes.
  • Industry Collaboration and Contracting: Facilitate and manage contracts with industry stakeholders and act as a liaison between the treatment center and external collaborators to promote innovative therapies and diagnostics.
  • Reimbursement and Market Access: Partner with internal reimbursement teams payors and specialty pharmacies to ensure patient access to FDA-Approved therapies. Educate providers and stakeholders on product access including coverage policies reimbursement protocols and patient assistance programs.
  • Strategic Business Planning: Develop and execute comprehensive local and regional business plans to address gaps in care and improve rare disease outcomes while also identifying emerging trends and proactively develop solutions to address challenges across therapeutic ecosystems.
  • Education and Training: Deliver high quality evidence-based education to healthcare providers on disease states treatment pathways and evolving standards of care. Maintaining updated knowledge of FDA-approved treatment guidelines and ensure internal and external alignment.
  • Stakeholder Relationship Management: Serve as a key point of contact for healthcare providers specialty pharmacies payors and internal teams. Foster strong relationships to ensure timely and coordinated care for patients while building and maintaining collaborative networks with rare disease experts academic institutions and advocacy organizations.

We are actively engaged in the education and development of the next generation of physicians and scientists.

Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Genetic Counseling or related field.
  • 5-7 years in Healthcare biotechnology pharmeceutical access or patient advocacy.
  • Understanding of clinical trial processes FDA regulatory pathways reimbursement models and specialty pharmacy operations.
  • Demonstrated success in engaging multiple stakeholders and driving access solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Leadership training (Preferred)

Childrens Wisconsin and Childrens Specialty Group

Childrens Wisconsin is an independent health care system dedicated solely to the health and well-being of children. The hospital with locations in Milwaukee and Northeast Wisconsin is recognized as one of the leading pediatric health care centers in the United States. Childrens Wisconsin provides primary care urgent care emergency care specialty care mental and behavioral health services community health services foster and adoption services child advocacy services and health insurance plans. Each year the Childrens Wisconsin team has more than 6.5 million touchpoints with kids and families through medical care advocacy research and Northeast Wisconsin Childrens Wisconsin is expanding its services to provide increased access to outstanding pediatric sub-specialty care.
