Job Summary

The Manager of Alumni Persistence works with KIPP Baltimore alumni who have graduated from high school supporting them as they persist to and through their postsecondary pathways. The Manager of Alumni Persistence helps students navigate their post-secondary programs and institutions so that they can successfully attain the credentials needed to achieve individual goals and lead fulfilling lives. The Manager of Alumni Persistence reports to the Director of KIPP Forward. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Manager of Alumni Persistence responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Collaborate with teammates to devise a strong student transition plan from Career and College Advising to Alumni Persistence advisors by: 
    • Reviewing transition documents for matriculating 12th graders including the Transition Spreadsheet and Pre-College and CTE Benchmarks. 
    • Engaging in introductory one-on-one or group meetings with students with the support of the career and college advising team. 
    • Participating in transition meetings with the career and college advising team. 
    • Supporting rising college and post-secondary program freshmen with matriculation tasks such as verification completing housing applications registering for courses etc.

 

  • Maintain a caseload of alumni enrolled in post-secondary programs and institutions and support their return to persistence in and graduation from these pathways by: 
    • Building relationships with the alumni in a caseload. 
    • Providing opportunities for alumni to connect to each other and to KIPP Baltimore staff and students through events and programming. 
    • Assisting students with class selection registration and financial aid. 
    • Staying in contact (calling texting visiting) with alumni in a caseload to monitor their progress and troubleshoot challenges (i.e./ academic probation personal challenges financial aid situations etc.) 
    • Recording all alumni benchmark assessment data contact notes and enrollment information in the alumni database. 
    • Implementing programming including a book scholarship program to support post-secondary persistence and credential completion. 
    • Connecting alumni with community resources that will help them meet their individual goals including tutors mentors internship and job opportunities summer programs etc. 
    • Serving as a reference for students for jobs and various opportunities. 

 

  • Work within the KIPP Forward team and perform the following general responsibilities: 
    • Update the alumni database with contact notes after meetings phone calls or texts with students family members mentors and high school personnel 
    • Develop positive appropriate relationships with current students and alumni. 
    • Develop positive appropriate relationships with fellow staff members viewing each other as teammates and professional colleagues. 
    • Attend and actively participate in all staff meetings team meetings etc. 
    • Identify and build relationships with partnering organizations for post-secondary support and career preparation. 
    • Other duties as assigned by the Director of KIPP Forward. 

 


Qualifications :

  • A passion for the mission of KIPP Baltimore. 
  • A Bachelors degree required preferably in education counseling or social work. 
  • At least one year of experience teaching or working with middle/ high school and/or college students. 
  • Experience helping educationally underserved students and families navigate college admission financial aid and scholarship application procedures. 
  • Knowledge of the high school and college landscape in Baltimore City and Maryland is preferred. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to build relationships with students and families.
  • Demonstrated strong commitment to equity inclusion and anti-racism. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced high energy environment with a proven ability to juggle multiple deadlines and tasks. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively. 
  • Ability to gather and analyze data compile information and report out. 
  • Excellent project management skills with an ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to facilitate group workshops for a range of audiences. 
  • Ability to travel to high schools and post-secondary institutions to meet with support and provide connecting experiences for students. 
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings when needed (i.e. to make student calls and/or hold events and facilitate programming).

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint and Publisher)

COMPENSATION:

Salary Range: $70K - 80K (based on experience and qualifications)
