GENERAL SUMMARY: The Staff Accountant supports the Finance Department by ensuring the accuracy integrity and timeliness of financial data across the organization. This position is responsible for performing a variety of accounting functions including journal entry preparation general ledger reconciliation payroll review and financial reporting. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance preferred (or equivalent experience) Payroll review &/or processing experience preferred Must be proficient and have experience with Microsoft Excel Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to maintain confidentiality Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to multi-task prioritize work work under pressure and meet deadlines required WORKING CONDITIONS: Carrying up to 10 lbs. occasionally. Withstands pressure and deals with emergency situations as needed. Good working conditions in an office environment. Average working hours with possible non-traditional hours. SPECIFIC DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists with recording financial transactions which includes preparing and recording journal entries in accordance with GAAP and maintaining supporting documentation Reviews biweekly payroll ensuring compliance with organizational policies and accurate submission of employee pay data Assists with completion of monthly and yearly close processes ensuring general ledger accounts are reconciled and have appropriate supporting documentation to conduct analysis Assists with completion of accurate and timely monthly financial statements and other management reports Assists with budget variance analysis and reporting Ensures compliance with internal accounting procedures Provides assistance in preparation for and during annual audits Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed The marginal functions of this position have not been included.
