Job Summary

Job Description for the position of EHS-Coordinator

Duties:-

  • Accountable to EHS effectiveness in responsible department
  • EHS system confirms to requirement in his responsible department.
  • Ensuring communication and deployment of EHS Policy in department.
  • Assisting HODs for developing EARA JSA & HIRA and updating the same.
  • Assisting HODs for developing Objectives and Targets in line with EHS Policy at Departments Level.
  • Collecting collating and analyzing data related to IMS-EHS and reporting it to GM/ HOD.
  • Providing data as per Management Review meeting agenda to HOD and MR.
  • Reporting adequacy of optimum resources availability in the department.
  • Ensuring integrity of IMS-EHS when changes are planned and implemented.
  • Ensuring that responsibilities authorities and accountabilities related to departmental personnel are defined in IMS-EHS.
  • Assisting HODs in establishing internal communication processes and ensuring IMS-EHS effectiveness related communication takes place.
  • Ensuring legal & other requirements compliance as per Integrated Legal Register and external interested party requirements for the department.
  • Assisting HODs in maintaining proper EHS work environment in the department.
  • Initiating timely root-cause analysis and taking Corrective Actions and Preventive Actions on EHS related non-conformances deviations and incidents.
  • Involving relevant employees from the department in designing establishing and implementation EHS.
  • Involving workers/ operators (as applicable) in EARA & HIRA.
  • Coordinating to provide OCP related training to departmental employees.
  • Maintaining departmental EHS related documents / records and controlling the issue of the EHS documents.
  • Leading the departmental EHS processes preparing and executing time-bound action plan
  • Ensuring smooth working of team members and facilitating exchange of information

He / She is committed and actively involved in implementing maintaining and continually improve the IMS-EHS by deploying Process Approach (PDCA) to sustain and enhance EHS performance by:

  • Advise the concerned departments in planning and organizing measures necessary for effective control of prevention of pollution injuries to personnel and maintaining safe working environment.
  • Advice on EHS aspects in all job studies and to carry out detailed Job Safety Analysis/ Studies of selected jobs/ equipments as per request from departments.
  • Check and evaluate the effectiveness of action taken or proposed to be taken to prevent personal injuries.
  • Advise purchase department in ensuring quality and availability of PPEs.
  • Carry out plant safety inspections in order to observe the physical conditions of work and the work practices and procedures followed by workers and to render advice on measures to be adopted for removing the unsafe physical conditions and preventing unsafe actions by workers.
  • Render advice on matters related to reporting and investigation of incidents.
  • Investigate the dangerous occurrences reportable under Rule 115 of the Maharashtra Factories Rules 1963 and the cases of Industrial diseases contracted by any of the workers employed in the factory reportable under rule 116 of the (said rules).
  • Advise on the maintenance of such records as are necessary relating to accidents dangerous occurrences and industrial diseases.
  • Promote setting up of EHS committee and act as an adviser to the committee.
  • Organize in association with the concerned departments campaigns competitions contests and other activities which develops and maintains the interest of the personnel in establishing and maintaining safe conditions of work and procedures.
  • Design and conduct either independently or in collaboration with the training department suitable training and educational programs for the prevention of pollution & personal injuries.
  • Identify access applicable Legal & Other Requirements related to EHS and establish processes & channels for getting updating / new additions and compiling into Integrated Legal Register & communication to all concerned departments.
  • Establish Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan and deployment across the organization and conduct periodic mock-drills.
  • Monitoring and measurement of EHS performance at company level and communication to all concerned.
  • Receiving documenting and responding to external interested parties communications.
  • Monitor health and safety data on incidents emergencies historical trends its investigation (root-cause analysis) and mitigation / corrective actions.
  • Ensure calibration and maintain calibration records of monitoring & measurement devices used for monitoring EHS Performance.
  • Periodic evaluation of compliance to all applicable legal & other requirements as per act / rule / notification and Integrated Legal Register and devise program / time-bound-action-plan to ensure compliance in case of non-compliance / deviations.
  • Maintain all consents permissions approvals licenses and related back-up data. Communication of copy to concerned users as appropriate.

  • Monitoring the work permits and other activities in campus to ensure safe working.
  • Regular inspection of Fire pump room service block HSD yard LPG banks and ETP / STP.
  • Conducting risk analysis and ensuring the proper solution to avoid the risk & hazard.
  • Record keeping and documentation of EHS related work.
  • Inspection of machines lifting tools and other equipments to ensure the compliance and safe working.
  • Checking of firefighting and detection system to ensure the proper working.
  • Training to the contract workers and on roll staff.
  • Ensuring the safety induction of workers.
  • Ensuring contractors safety program.
  • Exposure of OHSAS 18001 & ISO 14001 and any other standards would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of environment regulation would be an added advantage.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Science graduate with Diploma/PG Diploma in Industrial Safety with 2 years of experience.
  • Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical with Diploma/PG Diploma industrial safety with 4 years of experience.
  • Qualification in Environment management will be an added advantage.
  • NEBOSH and other credential will be an advantage.
  • Skilled in computer operation of MS Office and Power point is must.
