Why your role matters
As Marketing and Communications Officer youll lead initiatives that strengthen Indigenous Student Success at UNSW. Youll manage day-to-day marketing activities develop strategies and craft communications for internal and external audiences. Reporting to the Director of Nura Gili and supporting the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Indigenous this role is pivotal in shaping how we engage and inspire.

Specific Accountabilities
This is a broadbanded role spanning Levels 7 and 8 offering flexibility in duties and scope based on experience and contribution. Broadbanding provides opportunities to take on higher-level responsibilities as you grow.

Level 7 Accountabilities

  • Coordinate Indigenous marketing and communications initiatives aligned with Nura Gilis strategic priorities and cultural values.
  • Deliver timely targeted and cost-effective Indigenous student communications.
  • Collaborate with Nura Gili leadership on program marketing recruitment events and initiatives.
  • Monitor and evaluate communication activities recommending improvements.
  • Provide proactive advice on communication strategies and engagement channels.
  • Ensure consistent application of Nura Gili and UNSW brand guidelines.
  • Represent Indigenous student marketing and communications on committees or projects.
  • Create and publish social media and web content track metrics and provide insights.
  • Attend occasional meetings and events outside core hours including weekends and regional/interstate travel.
  • Demonstrate UNSW Code of Conduct and comply with health and safety policies.

Level 8 Accountabilities

  • Use data strategically to enhance visibility and impact of Indigenous student communications.
  • Monitor external media and trends providing strategic advice and risk analysis.
  • Develop and oversee media releases and public communications promoting Indigenous student achievements.
  • Analyse market trends and competitor positioning to inform strategic planning.

About You

Youll need strong organisational and communication skills and flexibility to attend occasional events outside core hours including weekends and regional/interstate travel.

Level 7 Expectations

  • Experience developing and evaluating marketing and communications strategies with measurable impact.
  • Ability to distil complex information into clear messages for diverse audiences.

Level 8 Expectations (in addition)

  • Proven ability to influence and negotiate with stakeholders.
  • Creative approach to developing new marketing initiatives.
  • Understanding of sector trends and Indigenous higher education landscape.
  • Track record leading multi-channel campaigns and branding programs.
